Incident details A boat departed from the city of Sabratah on 5/26/2024 at 3 pm. The boat traveled for approximately two hours and the drowning occurred at 5 pm. They had life jackets and remained in Libyan territorial waters until the next morning, 5/27/2024, then they split into groups. The first group consisted of five people: the family of father Maher Ahmed Al-Shalabi, known as Abu Maher, his wife Waad Al-Sawan, and his son Maher Al-Shalabi, who is under 10 years old, Marah Qaddah, Tariq Marei, and Abdullah Mahamid. The people who died, may God have mercy on them, are 7 people, including Ahmed Al-Shalabi's daughter, who died in the sea with her parents, who was under 5 years old and her body has not been found yet.
